Oh, it wasn't almost, I very much did get pokeballed. These two guys thought I was a weird regional form of ponyta or something and didn't seem to notice or care that I have nothing to do with fire and also I could talk to him. Major thanks to Arden, my delphox friend (or braixen, at the time) for making sure they couldn't get away with me.

As for the Champion battle... that's the goal, if you're really serious about it, but my understanding is that plenty of people just travel around and get a few badges and then call it good enough. Personally, I want to see how well I can do (and I have some very enthusiastic pokemon here), and if that means I make it to my region's Champion, then great! It's up to you, really. I don't know much about Galar except that one of my friends fell there in the universe we're in – probably not the same one as yours, but you never know.

Congrats on getting a starter! I haven't seen a pokemon like that here in Kalos so far, but you've got a cute one! Plus if what my dex shows is accurate, they'll have humanlike hands once they evolve, and let me tell you, that is a lifesaver when you're trying to get around with hooves or paws.

Also I saw you met the Champion already? That's great! Having someone like that know you're a Faller is important, because they can get the word out that people shouldn't try to catch you like a pokemon. (Happened to me once, thankfully my own starter stole the ball and got me out again.) Anyway I just wanted to say congrats and wish you luck on the start of your journey!

Aah, thanks! I’m trying to forward your compliments to Twigpaw, and I think they understand! I hope they do, at least, if that big smile is anything to go by. And concerning the hands, I guess I picked right! Though they’re already experimenting with holding objects, especially this stick they seem to like.

And yeah, I guess I did meet the Champion! He’s pretty cool, super confident and knows how to play a crowd—I’m meant to have a battle with him at the end of the journey?!?! Apparently?!? Somehow?!,?

Basic stuff to know about the Drifting Stars AU;

Mabel was pulled through the portal in the "Not what he seems" episode. Stanley, Dipper, AND Soos saw her get pulled through.

Dipper probably DOESN'T know who Stanford is, but Mabel does since she's traveling the multiverse with him.

Dipper and Stanley are most likely(most definitely?) VERY sleep deprived from working on the portal.

Now basic stuff to know about THIS blog/take on the Drifting Stars AU;

Mabel hasn't been in the Multiverse for a year yet, it's still the summer, so she is still very hyperactive and noisy and stuff, she still has alot of her big poofy hair because she has yet to get into a situation that requires it to be cut!

She now has a fluffy calcio vampire-cat kitten due to an anon(I love this cat and I swear I'm making a ref for her at some point, I just can't draw cats)

Most things anons/askers do will NOT carry across, Mostly because It'll get exhausting after a while to keep up EVERYTHING. Sorry guys :(

Dipper and Mabel HAVE been reunited! Also Dipper got Stanley to reopen the portal so Stanley is all alone in the mystery shack.

Honestly I have SO MANY muses and as a result I have so many OTP's that go along with that, both canon, crossover, crack and OC OTP's

HOW LARGE DOES THE AGE GAP HAVE TO BE TO MAKE IT UNCOMFORTABLE? 

This is gonna sound weird, but it depends on the species of the muses. If it's two human muses I probably wouldn't want to go maybe more than 20 years? And that's assuming the youngest muse is at least 21. The exception in regards to species is vampires and fae, any species with longevity spanning centuries and beyond. some of the age gaps with those muses can get excessive, but I would still say that physically in appearance they'd have to be within the around 20 years (if that makes sense). Of course ALL if this is with the assumption that all muses are over the age of 18. We ain't out here imprinting on babies. I'm side-eyeing Twilight hard at this one.

Somewhat! I love the build up in a ship. And when it comes to my male muses, if you completely ignore my girls, I won't ship my male muses. I have seen it far to many times where people completely ignore someone's female muses and solely write with the male muses while constantly hinting at shippy things in the thread. It gets demotivating, so please don't ignore my female muses who would love even platonic interactions, or enemy interactions in favour or trying to force ships with my guys.

WHO ARE OTHER CHARACTERS YOU SHIP YOUR CHARACTER WITH? 

I will legit ship anything. I do have a spreadsheet (yes I'm that extra) with all my muses, their sexualities, their preferences and potential canon ships, who I won't ship them with and if shipping with them is open. You can find that here.

Hello, you can call me Why or Why- or something, idk. I'm aroace, an adult and no idea what my gender is but use literally any pronouns you want when talking about me. @rotomblr-multiverse-cataloguer: Two rotoms fused, but a completely separate entity from the two that form it (at some point I'll do an event where both of them take over the account). He's mapping the multiverse because the scientists working with the machine she lives in don't do anything. Currently traveling from world to world accidentally because it doesn't know they are the one creating the portals. Any pronouns.

@pokemon-completionist: Yes, that was me. Fran's main account was deleted because I only had cool things for the future and no ways to get there. Gimmick blog that reblogs posts counting the number of pokemon in several categories, percentage of all of those and if it's a new record for the blog. He/it.

@freeing-the-souls: Marta! She's great! She's an oc from something I'll write some day (after I write the thing that goes before that, that also goes after another story. She technically appears in the second one but that's teenage Marta who's learning to control her powers). There is an explanation on her pinned that's way too long, but basically she's a grim reaper mixed with that scp that offers you to smoke if you die alone. She can summon a scythe (she could have chosen anything, but scythes are cool) and temporarily take someone's soul out of their body (unless the person is dying, then it doesn't go back). She can sense if someone is close to their death and is trying to go back to her world (she's a faller. She can go back temporarily with her powers but once she's helped the souls she's teleported back to her previous location) and misses her girlfriend. She/her.

@hammeragainstbirds: Some guy slowly transforming into a tinkaton, almost finished. I swear one day I'll draw the final version of her hammer and finish the transformation. It's been too long so I'll just say it, the tinkaton that hit him isn't a tinkaton, it's a trickster god that exists outside of the boundaries of pokemon and likes to cause chaos, will probably be relevant at some point. Any pronouns.

@wins-for-everyone: A cursed chosen, for now. I want to reboot it without some elements of the story (those familiar with the type of blog probably know what I mean) because I like the kid and don't want the idea to die. Hopefully this will also bring back their emotions because they disappeared after the event and I don't know why. They/them (hasn't figured it out yet, so he/him for now).

@why-did-i-fall: Self insert faller, so just me from the real world and with my real world knowledge about rotomblr (won't talk about that often, rarely actually). Currently a ditto hybrid trying to figure out how to ditto. Any pronouns.

NO WAY HOME SPOILER DISCUSSION

I'm not lying to you: major spoilers!

I loved this film. I'm going again tomorrow but I just need to talk about it. I'll make future posts about themes and shit but for now I wanna talk about characters.

Happy/Flash/Betty/Old Supporting Cast: They were good, not really new on anything, but i really liked them before anyway! Just, these characters and the teachers and such, they aren't the main takeaways and I don't wanna spend much time with them tbh.

Mysterio: I'm glad he wasn't still alive or pulled from other universes, as people theorized. He is better dead, it works with the themes of the trilogy about murder and death to have him be dead. He was fantastic in FFH, I'm glad we didn't use him too much and left room for this movie's rather huge cast.

JJJ: Only character I have more negative than positives about. I know he isn't the same as Raimi's, but he had so little presence and it was sad to me? In the ending when they showed him talking about Spider-Man's identity, I kinda got shocked cause wow, he really was in the movie and I forgot. Simmons' JJJ has been the best comedic character out of ANY Spider-Man film and it made me kinda sad to realize his return left so little impact.

MJ: Not a whole lot to say, she was really cool and really supportive, it was heartbreaking to see her forget Peter. She is very solid and enjoyable, just not any intricate thoughts, what can I tell you, she was awesome and that's all I need to say.

May: I called her death with my friends, just wanted to add that. But she really got her dues here, the previous movies pretty much reduced her to hot aunt and I'm so happy she took a much more central role. She pushed Peter to be better than he was, to really own up to his power by taking responsibility, and I'm so happy for it. Her death was heartbreaking, but my goodness, she was better here than in any of her other MCU appearances.

I also love how, even right before she died, she demanded that Peter saved her killer. THAT'S the Parker way, just, UGH.

Ned: I liked that he showed a knack for wizardry and, while not the biggest loss by the end of the movie, it makes me sad that the climax ensured he wouldn't be able to pursue his talents, you know? A layer of tragedy to an already tragic ending, but it made him very happy. I'm glad that in his final days with Spider-Man (for now), he finally got to stop living the superhero life through Peter and got a bit for himself.

Eddie/Matt: Very faithful proper introductions into the MCU. I know this Matt technically isn't the Netflix one but I still was FLOORED when he appeared. Catching the brick, the glasses, it was him. Eddie was a mess, confused, looked like shit, they truly knew what we loved about him. Very faithful cameos that enhanced the overall multiverse feel without being overpowering. Also, the Symbiote tease is incredible. Peter has a huge darkness in him now, the Symbiote can really prey on that. I'm excited yet fearful for their futures together.

Wong: Wong got his due and it made me so happy. He deserves to be Sorcerer Supreme and I'm very happy that he is, at least for now. I also like that the trailer was misleading and that Wong in the movie was more sympathetic. He knew how dangerous it was to make the spell work, but he didn't condemn it like in the trailer, and it added a great deal of empathy for him as he acknowledged that yes, it's dangerous, but this kid is suffering and he has done so much, they can try and give some back.

Strange: This is not a Sinister Six film by any means, but Strange does make six antagonists, and he certainly is an antagonist. He is in character, this is him. He's a bit meaner than the Avengers appearances yeah (but look at how different Steve is from TFA to The Avengers, crossovers stretch characters), but he is not ooc. With full knowledge, he let Tony die for a greater good, I totally buy that he would not care for these 5 villains lives. And I think his arrogance and bite does come from being demoted, that probably wounded his pride. He was harsh, but in the end he said "those who love and care for you, we won't remember you". He said "we". He cares for Peter, despite his, uh, more extreme reactions.

Lizard: Got a design upgrade, a slight one, but he did. He looked more reptilian and less live action Goomba, his voice wasn't as deep, and overall I was satisfied with the few moments he got. I have a real soft spot for Curt Conners in TASM 1, and while I knew he wouldn't get as much attention, what they did do felt faithful and loving all the same, and I was happy.

Sandman: His redesign was interesting, it helped him stand out. His constant sandy form did help keep the scenes from being "a bunch of guys in weird clothes standing next to a guy with octopus arms", it kept the scenes of them all together feeling more otherworldly. I also love that he worked with Peter on the spot, very faithful to his redemption. Idk why he went villain again and I'll look for it tomorrow, but yeah. Also sidenote, I'm glad that the lines about "them all dying to Spider-Man" was cut, it was inaccurate for 2 of the 5 villains and I'm glad it got a bit more nuance than they all died.

Electro: He was certainly much better than he was in TASM 2. I'm really glad that they brought Jaimi back and let him play a version of the character he liked more, it shows respect for the old movies BY changing them. They honor what the actor wanted and I think that shows so much more love for Spider-Man and the team behind the Amazing films, they allow them to improve on things they didn't like rather than stick strictly to the past. I loved his presence, he felt like a cougar ready to pounce at any moment.

Doc Ock: He was reduced to laughing stock a lot but I think it fits. Otto is an incredibly prideful man, so him being so thoroughly disarmed by a 17 year old boy (and laughed at by him and his friends) would certainly make him indignant. Either way, he has many stand out scenes. His introduction was incredibly tense, particularly when he started pulling the helicopter into Peter, trying to shred him. Alfred Molina was so damn good when Otto was cured. You could see the disbelief, the shock, then suddenly the relief and joy, it was incredibly beautiful. I also am very glad he got to build a relationship with Norman, something they didn't get to in their own trilogy. His rescue of Peter 2 and 3 as well as his discussion with Peter 2 was incredible as well. Overall a very faithful adaptation.

Norman/Goblin: Tied for my favorite character, he was just raw. Willem Dafoe is the most stand out performance, he was incredible in this film. Also fun fact, Willem only came back on the condition that he did all of his own stunts. This 66 year old man was doing the stunts of the main villain of one of the biggest superhero films of all time, just, wow. Norman was so kindly and I felt for him, his fear, his confusion. The way he nearly cried when he mentioned that his son no longer existed, I just, it hurt. I know he showed more kindness and love in this than in Spider-Man 1, but you really appreciate what you have once it's gone, and that makes you appreciate what you do have. His relationship with May was also adorable.

Well, until it wasn't.

Goblin is mortifying, easily a top 3 MCU villain and a STRONG contender for the best, idk I haven't thought too hard about it. He brought something out of Peter that we haven't seen. Even before he killed May, Goblin made Peter fight so much more brutally, their fight in the apartment complex is chilling. Goblin cackling as Peter beat him down was so damn terrifying. I also loved how Willem portrayed Norman/Goblin leading up to Goblin taking control. Every mention of Goblin made Norman seem a bit more off, especially on my second watch it created such Dread, seeing Goblin come slowly, piece by piece.

I'll save most of the discussion of his fight with Peter on the Shield in Peter's section, but Goblin did that. Goblin brought our Peter, the MCU hero most against killing, to absolute blood lust, and that alone makes him a monster.

Peter 3/Andrew: The second character tied for my favorite (one of three). Andrew legitametly was so good in this. I am astounded that he was honestly more cool to see show up than Tobey, his introduction was so much better.

Let's take a sidenote real quick: I don't like TASM 2. I loved Andrew in the first one. He didn't quite know how to explain his genius, he lacked some tact with time, he had anger issues, but he did everything he could in the end to do right by his uncle and the world. His Spider-Man was initially so mean and aggressive but you can see it mellow out as he comes to better terms with Ben's death. He was incredible and definetly not too cool. Yeah, he was hot and skateboards, but he was so bad at interacting with his classmates that I can see why he was bullied, but he was so smart and kind that I can see why he grabbed Gwen's eye. TASM 2 ruined that. There are multiple instances in fights where he fucks around needlessly and people die. In the opening fight with Rhino, he gets on the truck and messes around for half a minute before jumping off to help people. If he had just stopped Rhino instead of goofing off less people would have died, as right after he jumped off Rhino plowed through an intersection, undoubtedly killing the occupants of the cars he hits. I also hate how he refused to help Harry because of potential consequence, Peter saves everyone he can, even his villains. Speaking of, he straight up murdered Electro and no one cared. He also just stalks Gwen? Gwen's death was very well done, but I can't stand Peter in that movie otherwise. I don't mind Peter being in the wrong, but the movie never makes any attempt to paint these things as wrong or mistakes, and that is what really irks me.

In NWH they refine both interpretations very well. He is clunky and weird and anxious, even more so than the other two, but he's so endearing and you can tell that he has more confidence despite not quite nailing interaction with other people yet. He has the failings of TASM 2, but this time they are shown as wrong. He mentions not pulling his punches anymore. Now, that doesn't exclusively mean killing, but if a guy who can throw cars is going all out on a regular crook, well, 1 + 1 = 2. But it works for this movie! His guilt, his regret, he hates what he has become. He wants to stop Tom's Peter from becoming what he did, and he is reminded of what Spider-Man is himself.

I also love him catching MJ. I don't view it as a redemption, really, it isn't. Gwen is still dead, the people he killed are still dead. But it shows that he's back on the horse. He learned and he is genuinely trying to save someone he views to be his younger brother and his loved ones. It was a catch of love for his younger brother, not of redemption for himself. And the way he cries, it's painful to remember, but he's guarding his brother's loved ones. I just, I love Andrew in this film so much. He also saves Electro in this film and shows a genuine want to be his friend, his true friend, which again, shows his growth from the dark path he went down.

Peter 2/Tobey: He was really cool to see! He had mad Youth Pastor vibes and I loved his interactions with his villains, especially how he saves Norman. I'm going to keep his section brief because God this is long, but I adored him.

Peter 1/Tom, who I will call Peter: the third favorite in the three way tie. His arc is incredible. I love how sinister his final confrontation is with Goblin, how brutal it is. It's chilling that when Tobey stopped him he didn't immediately stop pushing, he kept going for a bit, he was trying to go through Tobey, he was willing to kill him to get to Goblin, if even for a moment. But he doesn't. I have a post here if you want to hear my extended thoughts on Peter and his arc in the MCU about murder.

His final decision is strangely optimistic. He is hurt deeply that no one remembers him, but he isn't crushed. He seems almost optimistic about the future. MJ and Ned are in MIT and he is happy for them. He is in no rush to get back to where he was with them, he seems content to give it time. He also seems happy to be in his own apartment finally. He is a young man ready to keep going with life, despite all of his losses, and that is also core to Peter Parker, how he keeps going despite the hell he goes through.

I also love two of his new suits. The inside out look was just to sell toys, but the other two? Amazing. I love that the upgraded suit was really just a gold piece of armor over his FFH suit. I love that it is a symbol of what he stands for, Ock gave it to him as a gift for curing him. I also love his final swing suit. It's homemade so it looks cheaper which I love, but I also love how he designed it to look more like the other two Peters' suits.

Father’s Day

I finally got it done @shamedump ! This did not need a whole hecking year to be typed up. BUT IT’S DONE AND I’M HAPPY ABOUT IT.

Chalk Pastels stared up at the ceiling littered with glow-in-the-dark stars and planets. She let out a hmm as she continued her contemplative stare in the semi-dark room.

“What’s something that he would like I wonder?” Chalk murmured as she laid in her ink puddle, her “star bottle” was clenched in her hand. Shaking the bottle resulted in the dark murky ink-like substance lighting up like a starry night sky.

The child then mulled over what she knew about her adoptive father so far. Chalk knew that he loved stars, that much was evident from his gift to her for her birthday as well as his interest in her star bottle. She had observed that he also enjoyed music, having heard that he made the CD that played at her party. Unfortunately she never dabbled in music, despite her Ink parent being the Guardian of creation for the Multiverse she originally came from. Chalk also knew that Dusty loved reading since it helped him. How it helped him, Chalk wasn’t certain, but he had been teaching her how to read in hopes that it helped her the same way it helped him.

Clicking her tongue, she briefly mused the idea of making a request to her friend, Shine, to make her Papa, Dusty a bottle similar to her own “star bottle”. The idea was rather ideal… yet it didn’t hold the same value as making it herself. Chalk was an artist, but she had no knowledge of how the bottles were made. Furthermore Shine did inform Chalk that the star bottles took quite some time to make. Time that Chalk didn’t have to make her gift and have it be ready on that special day… so she needed to think of something else, but what?

Still pondering various ideas she sat up to think more about what sort of gift her Papa would like. Chalk tilted her head and crossed her arms, deep in thought about what she could do. Continuing on the idea of music… she knew Rhythmic would help her make Dusty a CD of music. The XBeat child would be more than willing to help her since Chalk was one of the first friends he made. She then pondered what sort of music did Dusty even like? There was no way of knowing unless she asked him or her Uncle and Chalk wanted this gift to be a surprise.

Chalk paused on that thought. “Does Uncle Spooks know what sort of music Dusty enjoys? Mmmm…. He might… but….” The girl looked over at the Calendar on her wall. Remix had given her a digital calendar that would change depending on what day it was. It also had important dates scheduled in it. Music took a while to create, at least, that’s what Rythmic told her… which meant she was back to square one. She needed to do something for Dusty that was from her, obviously, but that was not feasible within the time limit.

“I mean I could draw something for him, but that’s so boring and unoriginal.” Chalk huffed, unaware that her Uncle Spooks had entered the room. “And I refuse to do something as unfulfilling as that.”

The specter tilted his head and flew over to his niece. “IS SOMETHING WRONG CHALK?” Spooks queried softly in an attempt to not startle his niece.

Chalk flinched, jumping up and whipping towards her Uncle, puffing up like a small frightened kitten. Unlike her previous uncle, Spooks was much more friendly and kind towards her. Seeing that he failed in his attempt to not startle his niece caused Spooks to frown in disappointment.

Seeing who it was calmed her down, but she then noticed the frown. Inwardly scolding herself Chalk smiled brightly at her Uncle. “Sorry Uncle Spooks. I was deep in thought and I didn’t hear you come in.” The girl explained as she returned to a sitting position.

Spooks nodded and returned her smile replying. “OH! WELL I’M SORRY FOR STARTLING YOU. I HEARD YOU TALKING TO YOURSELF AND I WONDERED IF I COULD HELP YOU WITH SOMETHING?”

Chalk blinked tilting her head as she pondered on that thought for a brief moment. Should she ask…? Might as well, it’s not like she had any other source to go off of. “Well I was thinking about making a gift for Papa for Father’s Day, but I don’t know what.” She sighs and rubs her skull, partially out of habit and partially due to her nerves. Chalk was always more skittish than most children thanks to previous experiences.

“I know he likes stars and books, but I don’t know what sort of books he likes and just drawing a measly little picture…” Chalk pauses and shakes her head.  “I don’t think that’s good enough at all! Not for Papa at least… I… I want to make something that he’ll like and something that would help him? I was also thinking about some music, but I don’t know what sort of music he likes and then I realized that it would take a while to make some music that he would like anyway...” The child puffed up a little, but deflated just as quickly as she wrung her hands together.

Spooks floats closer to his niece and reaches out to cup the girl’s cheeks. “CHALK DEAR… THIS MAY SOUND CLICHE, BUT YOUR FATHER WOULD LOVE ANYTHING YOU GIVE TO HIM AND ANYTHING YOU GIVE HIM WILL HELP HIM.”

Chalk looked at him doubtfully, but nuzzled into his hands. “How would it help Papa?”

Spooks smiled and bobbed in the air a bit before nuzzling his head to hers replying. “IT WILL HELP HIM BECAUSE IT WILL REMIND HIM THAT HE IS LOVED BY YOU. YOUR GIFT WILL BE SPECIAL BECAUSE NOT ONLY WILL IT BE MADE BY YOU, IT WILL BE THE FIRST EVER GIFT HE WILL RECEIVE FROM YOU, HIS DAUGHTER.” Spooks moved his head away from hers as well as moving his hands away from her cheeks.

Chalk nods and grabs one of his hands, eyeing the bright, roughly sewn stars on the back of his gloves with slightly dimmed eye lights. She began to trace the yellow hand sewn stars with her thumb, Chalk stubbornly replied. “I want it to be more than a reminder… I want him to be able to use it and that it could help him that way.” Chalk paused to look at her uncle, her eye lights returning to their original brightness, yes she appeared concerned and she adds. “Does… does that make sense?”

“YES DEAR NIECE IT DOES.” Spooks answered using his free hand to rub his chin as he pondered on something that his brother could use. After some time Chalk released Spooks’ hand and stared at the specter. Eventually Spooks snapped his fingers and an idea came to mind.

“AH YES! WHY NOT MAKE HIM SOMETHING OUT OF RESIN? SOMETHING LIKE A WORRY STONE THAT HE COULD WEAR?” Spooks suggested, grinning as he noticed that Chalk’s eye lights lit up brightly.

“That’s a really good idea!” Chalk chittered happily then frowning as she glanced over at her resin molds. “But now… what should I make him? You suggested a wearable worry stone… basically… but would he like a bracelet or necklace? What textures does he even like…?” Chalk sighed and looked down at the ink spot on the ground while tilting her head.

At that Spooks chuckles and floats over to the molds she has. “WELL I CAN GIVE YOU AN SUGGESTION IF YOU’RE OPEN TO THE IDEA?”

Chalk’s gaze then follows her uncle. Standing the girl walked over to the molds and spreads them out for her uncle to see. Spooks stared at the molds wistfully, remembering his love for making things when he was alive and able to do so. Gingerly the specter picked up one of the molds. Running his thumb over the molds he states “SANS LIKES SLIGHTLY RAISED BUMPS LIKE THIS. NYEH HEH… WHEN I TRIED TO COMBINED HIS FAVORITE THINGS TOGETHER THE BUMPS WERE ALWAYS SLIGHTLY TOO LARGE… OR THE COLOR WAS OFF. HE LIKES A FEW DIIFERENT COLORS, BUT THE ONE I WANTED TO MAKE FOR HIM. I DON’T QUITE RECALL THE NAME.”

Chalk had scooted up closer to Spooks staring at the molds curiously. She soon returned to a sitting position, her arms wrapped around her knees as her multicolored eyes changed rapidly from her blinking. The specter turn to his niece and placed the mold in her hand, before poking the temple of his skull in thought.

“IT’S LIGHTER THAN ROYAL PURPLE… I GET THAT NOW… IT’S MORE PINK EVEN.” Spooks explains, knowing that the Ink-dust child would have an idea of the color he was describing. His eye lights look to the girl to see that there was a small contemplative look on her face.

Chalk did have an idea on what the color was, but she tilts her head. “What other colors does he like?”

“BABY BLUE... IF I RECALL.”

“Ah… I see.” Chalk nodded at the quick response and to herself. It made sense why Spooks chose the color he did. “It sounds like you were describing Lavender as one of Papa’s favorite color…” It was then that Chalk realized how eerily quiet it was, making her worry the end of her sleeve. “What’s Papa doing anyway? I haven’t heard him move at all.”

Spooks tilted his head. “OH… YOUR PAPA IS JUST READING DEAR. IT’S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. JUST SOMETHING HE PICKED UP FROM MAGE. READING AND LEARNING SOMETHING NEW HELPS HIM.” Dusty was reading about Ecology in order to help some of the Horrors with their garden as well as aiding mage with the landscaping for castle grounds.

Chalk blinked, appearing puzzled before snickering. A light pastel rainbow blush appeared on her face as she replied. “I can’t believe I asked a silly question like that. Of course he would be reading. He loves books!” Chalk just had one of the biggest “DUH” moments of her life. She shook her head and rolled her eye lights at her own forgetfulness. Chalk then tilted her head.

“Oh by the way… Not trying to be rude, but why did you come up here anyway?” The girl queried as her stomach rumbled, which only served to deepen the blush and made Spooks bob in the air happily.

“WELL I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I CAME UP HERE FOR TWO THINGS. ONE WAS TO CHECK ON YOU, YOU’VE BEEN AS QUIET AS YOUR PAPA AFTER ALL AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT YOU WANTED TO HAVE FOR LUNCH! NYEH HEH HEH!” Spooks joyfully replied, a large smile plastered on his face.

Chalk couldn’t help but grin herself. She put her hands behind her head, much like a certain protagonist from a game called Kingdom hearts. “I don’t have anything specific in mind anything is good.” Her stomach growls in agreement.

“OH? WELL THEN I’LL GO SEE IF DUSTY WANTS ANYTHING SPECIFIC THEN!” Spooks turned to head out when he heard Chalk stand and felt her arms wrap around him.

“Sorry! But I can’t let you leave without saying thanks for your help. Oh and the color you were thinking of… I think it’s lavender.” Chalk purred hugging Spooks to her chest and nuzzling his head.

Spooks purred and patted his nieces arm. “YOU’RE MOST WELCOME DEAR AND YES! YES THAT SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT! THANK YOU FOR INFORMING ME. IT WOULD HAVE DRIVEN ME BONKERS NOT KNOWING THE NAME!” Spooks grinned and restated the name of the color. “LAVENDAR! NYEH HEH HEH!”

Chalk released her uncle and turned to look at the mold he gave her to use. Spooks, energized by the hug zipped out of the room to go speak to Dusty.

After Spooks left Chalk walked over to her resin tool box and perused through her resin dyes and mica powders. With an idea in her mind she was ready to make her first ever gift… to Dusty, her new father.

A few days later Chalk looked at the gift satisfied with her and Spooks handiwork. Chalk purred in excitement as she pulled a piece of string through the hole at the top of the necklace and placed it into the bage her uncle had made for the occasion. The girl was still learning how to read and write properly, so she had Asked her Uncle to make the gift bag, which he gladly agreed to do. The Father’s Day gift was done and ready to go all that she needed to do was wait for the day to arrive.

Which wouldn’t be long seeing as how it was today.

Chalk peeked out of the door down towards the couch where Dusty was sitting. He wasn’t reading and just sat there. Though… to Chalk it appeared the her father might be napping. Slowly Chalk moved out to the railing to get a better look. At her movement Dusty turned his gaze to her. In truth he had just been reflecting over what he had read in his ecology book that Hex had leant him when Chalk’s movement made him notice her.

It took Dusty a moment to say something, having noticed the bag in his daughter’s hand. Chalk seemed happy about something. “heya kiddo… what’s up?”

Instead of replying Chalk walked down the stairs and held the bag out to him. Dusty blinked in response and slowly took the bag from her. “what’s this now?”

“Happy Father’s Day.” Chalk replied softly. Dusty’s grinned softened as he took a closer look at the bag. He noticed he brother’s handiwork in decorating the bag as well as Spooks handwriting. It did indeed say Happy Father’s day.

Dusty looked to Chalk then to the bag. Spooks was hovering nearby , eager to see his brother’s reaction. “YOU CAN OPEN IT YOU KNOW!”

Dusty’s glanced at his brother and then to Chalk once again before opening the bag and reaching in for the item, his eye lights widening as he was what it was. Dusty’s eye lights softened a bit as he looked over the gift.

The worry stone was in a tear drop shape. It would be easy to grab when Dusty needed it. The necklace had a smooth center like most worry stones, however there were some slightly raised bumps from the center of the piece to the edges. The stone was shiny and almost glass-like in appearance and a very lovely shade of lavender.

Dusty ran his phalanges over it, scarcely believing that such an item was his now. His SOUL was being filled with the good kind of love as he slipped the string over his head. He was happy, though not quite surprised to find that it was the perfect length. Chalk must’ve observed where he grabbed at his shirt to get the length correct. Dusty looked at Chalk and grinned, opening his arms to hug her, to which she readily hopped into.

“Do you like it?” Chalk queries looking at Dusty with a worried expression.

Dusty reassured his daughter by purring and nuzzling her head. “love it.”

Chalk in turn purred like a loud kitten as she nuzzled him back. “I wanted to make you something that you could use y’know?”

Dusty chuckled and hugged her tightly with one arm, the other rubbing over the worry stone necklace. “thanks sweetheart. i love it i really do.”

Spooks floated down to rest on the arm of the couch, also purring from the joy he sensed from his brother and niece. Chalk curled up in Dusty’s arms, continuing to purr loudly as she watched Dusty run his digits across the gift she (and Spooks) made for him.

Dusty was still nuzzling Chalk, but he had an eye light on the gift. He might not deserve this in the slightest bit of the word, but it was his… and if he could make Chalk happy then he would do all he could to guide her the best he could.

That’s what Fathers were supposed to do after all.

Loki Season 1 Thoughts

Overall, I really liked this series. It has some issues without question, but I sincerely don't think it's the dumpster fire so many viewers on this site treat it as. Did it go how I expected? Not at all? Did I enjoy the heck out of it and look forward to it every Wednesday? Hell yeah!

Loki's Good Guy Personality

A big complaint many have had with it is how much Loki's demeanor has changed and how his emotional growth feels rushed or his personality is ooc. Truth is, he saw his entire future, saw what his angry, power hungry, I-work-alone persona would get him in the end, and it snapped him back to reality. He has always been shown to be quite emotional and craving attention and lacking in self assurance, it's just in the past movies he's masked it with violence and fake narcissism, and he's always been a secondary character so his perspective is rarely shown. But if you really pay attention it's obvious he isn't truly villainous; we all know that, it's largely why he has such a huge fan base.

Right after meeting Mobius, Loki got an infodump of his future, saw his parents both die, found out that free will means jack shit, and learned he's absolutely powerless in this realm. On top of that, this is 2012 Loki, fresh off of being under Thanos' control, suddenly being shown that the guy who controlled him is going to end up killing him. Frankly,, I think it all broke Loki. He was too shook up by it all and by the sheer helplessness he found himself in at the TVA that he let all his barriers down momentarily. Just long enough for him to open up to Mobius about his motivation and his lack of self confidence. And you know what I bet? Loki felt relieved after talking to Mobius. A weight was lifted, because he bore his heart to someone and wasn't rejected or laughed at or treated like a psycho. And after letting his walls down fully, Loki didn't feel the need to put all of them back up. He stayed guarded around other people, but he didn't need to pretend around Mobius. Mobius has seen under the mask, so Loki doesn't feel pressure to perform as an all knowing, all powerful God around Mobius. That freedom is life changing.

People who gravitate towards broken, pseudo-villain characters do so because we relate to their internal conflict, their mental illness, their need to fake it around everyone close to them. Their turmoil and depression and self destructive behavior are familiar and we see ourselves reflected in their actions. Now, when a person really truly let's their guard down, drops all their layers of facade, and embraces themself, they tend to change demeanor and even personality pretty drastically. It's jarring in real life, so of course when it happens to a fictional character who you usually relate to it is going to be jarring, maybe even more so because it feels like a change you yourself would never go through. I know this sounds bad and people might get at me for it, but...

I believe the issue here is that a large part of Loki's fan base doesn't want him to get better. They don't want him to move past his mental illness, to learn how to cope with anger and disappointment in healthier ways, to be happy. They like his damaged persona, they like the internal conflict. Maybe it's because they're still at that low place themself and feel like a relatable character is getting taken away from them, maybe it's because they don't understand how much being at peace with yourself can alter a person and to them it feels like he's been changed too much. To those of us mostly on the up and up from battling depression and mental illness, it's comforting to see Loki getting a chance to be genuinely happy and accepting of himself.

Sylki and Lokius

First things first, I'm not anti anything. Ship what you want, idc. Personally, I do not see the Sylki dynamic as romantic, but I get why people read it that way. I thought the series did a good job of showing unrequited love, namely Loki falling for Sylvie and Sylvie feeling zero romance towards him. This was aware of his attraction and in the end used it as a distraction so she could get the upper hand. The show played up the potential romance because we are viewing things from Loki's perspective and he's become smitten as a kitten. I do think in the long run they'll have a more sibling-like dynamic, one Loki realizes that you can feel extreme love and care for a person without it being romantic. I enjoyed how the show explored their relationship, though I do wish they hadn't had every character under the sun mention their moment on Lamentis-1 like it was some big deal to bond with someone you're about to die with.

I'm bitter towards the development of Lokius. It had a strong start in the beginning, and in ep 5 had some potential reignited, but then they had Mobius not know who Loki is at the end. I'm still hoping they're playing the long game with this ship and that it'll come to fruition partway through season 2. The chemistry is there, and Mobius knows Loki very intimately and isn't put off by his past. Loki also feels much more at ease around Mobius than he does around Sylvie. It's the comfort of a deep loving bond with Mobius verses the nervousness of a new crush that he feels for Sylvie.

I don't think Loki is quite aware of his feelings for Mobius, simply because it's based in friendship and mutual respect and isn't a hot and heavy lust. Plus, as soon as he was away from Mobius he was thrown into a near death experience with Sylvie and developed a surface crush during their heart to heart. Since Loki's still figuring out what genuine feelings are beyond anger and sadness, he sees the simplistic crush he has on Sylvie as love and the intimate bond he's been forming with Mobius as friendship. He doesn't understand his own feelings yet, but I think he'll figure it out next season. I mean, he was probably already rethinking his feelings for her after she kissed and betrayed him, mentally kicking himself for expecting her to not pull a Loki betrayal like he would've in the past.

The Time Variance Authority

I really like the concept of the TVA, the structure of it, the methods they use, the deeply fucked way they recruit employees, the cult like motto, shady Miss Minutes who is definitely playing her own long game, and the blind acceptance TVA agents have of the Time Keepers' will. It's all very well done... until your dig into the core, aka He Who Remains. They built up the idea that the Time Keepers created the TVA to prevent a multiverse war and that they created agents to enforce their will. Then the creating agents turned out to be fake, the Time Keepers were fake, I expected the reason for the TVA's existence to be fake to. It felt too simple to have it genuinely exist just to keep the multiverse in check. Why the anonymity, unless it's to keep from having agents target and prune versions of himself which.. songs like a decent solution. HWR made it sound as though the multiverse war was just a bunch of versions of himself screwing shit up, so why isn't the TVA's focus on eradicating every other variant of this guy? Sounds a lot easier and nicer than fucking with the free will of every other living being. So either Marvel made a bad call when choosing what HWR's motive was for creating the TVA, or he was lying about it all to cover up something sinister.

Overall Storyline

I'm fairly happy with the plot as a whole. There were some pacing issues and I think a few missed chances for deeper conversations between various characters. While I enjoyed the Loki variants, I honestly would've been happier seeing Tom playing most the variants (except Kid Loki and Classic Loki since they are clearly different age ranges). If there is supposed to be one sacred timeline, it seems off to me that Lokis would be allowed to vary so extremely without it causing a nexus event(an alligator, whose nexus wasn't that he's an animal who obviously can't do any magic much less command Thanos' army, but that he ate someone's cat) and not just in appearance but in life path (ie boastful Loki collected all the infinity stones but it wasn't till he had 6 that he caused a nexus event even though him gaining control of the Soul, Power, and Time stones should've each caused nexus events since on the sacred timeline he never interacts with those 3 and taking any one of them would've fucked up a lot of other timeline parts)

I love the display of Lokis raw power, and 2012 Loki coming to the realization that he's way more powerful than he ever thought. And it wasn't just Classic Loki who spent thousands of years alone honing his skills, 2012 Loki reversed time on a goddamn falling building! I also liked the small magic, the fireworks, the tablecloth blanket, Loki yanking Sylvie away from HWR with just magic.

As someone who is both bisexual and genderfluid, I would've really loved more concrete representation. The comment about there never being another female Loki hit me in the gut; it undermined the Easter egg "Sex: Fluid" on Loki's TVA file. With how big a deal Sylvie being female was made out to be throughout the season, I expected her gender to play a key role in taking down the head of the TVA, like it was foretold that only a female Loki could end it all or some shit.

I don't mind the idea of Loki finding love in a straight passing relationship. I don't even mind the selfcest all that much. It just feels so obvious to me that Sylvie is written as not having any romantic inclination towards Loki, while Mobius is clearly written as falling in love with someone he shouldn't and trying to maintain an heir of professionalism to keep from wrecking his bond with Loki. I really really hope they come through on season 2 and give Lokius the canon relationship and proper representation they deserve.

I was wondering what's your thoughts on the latest Loki episode?

Hi, anon! I’ll place my response under a cut because there's spoilers, and also because I have a lot of thoughts/questions about Loki (2021) as a show:

Tbh, I’m struggling with this show’s pacing, in general? Like, the plot has moved SO FAST, right from episode 1.

And I know that it takes a lot of finesse to handle pacing well—I won’t pretend I’m any better in my own works. Because if you go too slow, then you risk losing people’s attention. But it just feels like the overarching plot with the Time Keepers and Loki working for them, and then turning against them, could have stretched across 10 episodes or more, easily. And in doing so, it could have created stronger foundations for how Something’s Not Right with the TVA but yet it’s managed to exist for SO LONG?? etc.

Like, in the course of a single episode, we finally saw the Time Keepers, heard them speak, and then also discovered they weren’t real because oops, The Real Time Keeper didn’t have a Vision-Level Budget for their robotics despite being able to use Infinity Stones for paperweights and having a robotics wet-dream for a realm.

Questionable world-building details aside, I feel like—plot-wise—I just moved through The Matrix, The Truman Show, and The Wizard of Oz, combined, in 40 minutes?

There's just so much going on at one time, and so many characters are coming to really important, mind-boggling self-revelations so very quickly and with so little warning/impetus for those revelations. Sometimes, those revelations just don’t feel earned as a result.

In terms of world-building, I think I got confused. I’m not entirely sure why it was Mobius who went on a massive spiel about Loki’s powerful connection to Slyvie as being narcissism? Like, idk what I think of it yet personally tbh, but Mobius is the same exact man who in episode 2 made it a point to show Loki that He Is Actually Not Himself in other universes? He was literally like “no two variants are alike” and then ran through a montage of drastically different Lokis? One of which was this huge yellow ogre that even Loki did a double-take at?

So like…is the show trying to argue that Variants are in fact the same person at the core despite cosmetic differences, or is the Loki/Sylvie relationship trying to argue that Variants in fact are their own wholly unique person who actually can’t be compared against a multiverse counterpart? Is this a self-love sort of a thing, or is it a critique on a prejudice/damaging stereotype that the TVA has regarding Variants and the larger multiverse itself?

Clearly, the TVA understands that even slight changes to circumstances can massively alter the life path, personality, memories, and appearance of an individual along with their environment. So like…idk if I want to get into the semantics of narcissism, but something just seems a bit off here. I feel like Sylvie has more in common with, like, the also-green-and-gold Rogue from X-Men than she does her own Loki counterpart, so like…idk.

There’s still two episodes left, so I’d like to watch it all the way through to see how it’s handling these questions. It’s building toward a message of some kind for Loki and Slyvie? I’m just not really sure…which message yet?

I think my last thought still ties into the pacing, but it just seems odd that it took from 2009 to 2017 and multiple apocalypses/near-death events within that space for Loki to even accept a hug from his adopted brother he’s known for millennia…but in the course of like a day and a half, he’s become incredibly touchy feely and open with Sylvie and ready to pour his heart out. Like, I get that this show is all about getting Loki to reflect on his damaging flaws and insecurities so that he can grow from that for once....But idk, regardless of the relationship they’re going for with Sylvie, it just seems a bit OOC for him be this aware and comfortable acting on that so quickly. I would expect Loki to be a bit more hesitant about revealing his deep emotions in this very small span of time. He can hardly even admit them to himself most days because he’s typically viewed intimacy as a threat and usually has some kind of self-hatred going on.

Maybe if we had those 10 episodes or more, these character developments (that it’s okay to make genuine connections for the sake of connection, and the peeling away of Loki’s layers of defense) would feel more natural??

I’m trying to reserve judgments about certain things because we have only part of the story at this point—I don’t know what all they might button up or how they’ll do it yet. What expectations do you hold towards your plotting partner:  Ideas and somewhat more enthusiasm than me. I tend to shy away or feel very much awkward right off the bat if the person approaches me with not much to say or give. And honestly, some people really intimidate me because I am too hard on myself, so giving a bit of a pat on the back makes me relax more. I deal with a lot of anxiety and I know people run away the second I show it. 

When you notice the plotting is rather one-sided, what do you do?:  Mostly when I am doing the talk or coming with ideas or looking generally more interested. It takes effort for me to get on things and actually do stuff but if it’s not the other way around I end up thinking they got bored of me. I am one hell of insecure person. As for what I do, if after many tries of trying to reach another person and end up feeling rejected or ignored, then ... I stop. What’s the point of insisting if the other person would just be awkward or not spare you a word?

How do you usually plot with others, do you give input or leave most work towards your partner?:  well, I usually ask first what the other thinks or have in mind, if nothing, I either suggest or start brainstorming with the other person. I know some who have dealt with me at first I seem like a dettached person but not having ideas really makes me feel like I have not much right to talk. I want to give yet without impossing or letting it twist my arm. I know for a fact nora’s lore really doesn’t help shit for most things. 

When a partner drops the thread, do you wish to know?:   YES / NO / DEPENDS. - And why?: if the thread was meaningful and we were really into it , then I would ask but as for the most, I don’t really bother with it. Sometimes people just lose muse, and even if I was enjoying it, I don’t have the right  to force someone or ask why they stopped. thread dropping is normal, i guess.  - What should your partner do when dropping a thread?:  whatever they want. telling me or not is up to them, I don’t really mind. RP is not something SUPER serious like it should be just perfect. I try to convice myself of this a lot.

What could possibly lead you to drop a thread?:  either because it was old as fuck, I couldn’t find muse or because it was lost in the void of tumblr’s amazing tracking system. - Will you tell your partner?:   YES / NO / DEPENDS.

Is communication in the rpc important to you?   YES / NO. - And why?:  if I do not have some idea of who am i rping with and what they have in mind, then it’s nearly impossible. being purely IC is really uncomfortable and could lead to a lot of misundertandings. - Are you okay with absolute honesty, even if it may means hearing something negative about you and/or portrayal?:  yeah. mostly yeah -- I mean, I will feel bad, I do have feelings, but I will take it with water. - Do you think you can handle such situation in a mature way?  YES ( but I will feel bad anyways ) / NO.

Why do you rp again, is there a goal?:  connect with others, ramble a lot about characters, have fun. I’ve been rping since i was 12 ( back then it was not big deal your age apparently ) and having to connect with other people by making these plots and stories and just having a fun time is something that brings me joy. There’s so much that can be done. And exploring my muses with other muses influences is really helpful to fill the holes left due indecisiveness.

Wishlist, be it plots or scenarios:  I wish people joined my lore more. Having muses that could be in the same story department as Nora in particular, would be hella and inspire me more. There is so much I have. Explore nora’s power is also something I want but it’s hard -- it’s very invasive and not many would really like it, feeling it’s meta. For now, I don’t really have other muses and Spike has her little crew outside tumblr.

Themes I won’t ever rp / explore:  umm, it’s hard to think in something in particular. But mostly stuff that collides with nora’s story/character. but there is a lot I am willing to explore.

What Type of Starters do you prefer / dislike, can’t work with?: casual starters are my fab. It’s easier to figure out how  to go or stop and think. plotted ones also work. as for what I dislike or cannot work with, things that force my muse to not act how they would? not giving me something solid is hard to handle. 

What type of characters catch your interest the most?:  I really like out of the norm muses, something that you see and say /oh , look at that/. Aesthetically, story wise or personality wise, something that goes out the usual troup most would use. I do have a guilty pleasure for opposite to my muse characters --- something that would really show the contrast with one another.

What type of characters catch your interest the least?:  Very basic ones? or those who try TOO hard to be special. A character that doesn’t fit in the context they are in, esp. in fandoms. HEAVILY divergent characters that just basically turn them into OCs. I know I sound like a bitch but I am the type who respect canon and the actual author behind the character too much. Also those that I don’t know much about? as in, the fandom never managed to catch my interest or smth in that line.

What are your strong aspects as rp partner?:  I know where is the line between fiction and reality. And that what your character does it does not reflect as the person you actually are. I am pretty laid back and I understand people’s views and reasoning. idk. I draw a lot if I am super invested ?

What are your weak aspects as rp partner?: I am super sporadic and can go from being super active to flat out dead for weeks. my mood swings a lot with the amount of attention I get, as horrible as it sounds. I am very anxious as a person for reasons ( not IRL mostly, just bad experience from previous partners ). I promise a lot but do little? honestly I will just bad mouth myself if I keep writing this.

Nora is a mentor type of character, she is here to be a support and help others explore themselves and learn. Also if you are a minor, she will most likely try to get close to help -- one must protect the good sad kids.

- With what type of Muses do you usually struggle to rp with?:  Stubborn, very fixated with things. Who would not open themselves to other perspective without thinking someone is trying to change them. Also she would struggle a heck lot with psychopaths and sociopaths, or anyone that “doesn’t have a face” for her. - With what type of Muses do they usually work well with?:  Curious people, struggling ones, kids in general -- people that are willing to listen to her opinions and try to improve in a positive way. Also those who are quirky in a way.

No one is going to like everyone but do you see me telling others NOT to write with them? Hell no because I know for a fact they have done it to me and others love to listen without all sides to a story.

I also drop people who vague in public servers because it’s straight up childish behavior. I also will not follow or interact with anyone who guilt trips, suicide baits or lies with a pity party song and dance. When you’re found out to be lying or telling other people not to interact with somebody in this RPC I want nothing to do with you. Move on. That’s it.

I have no idea where this quote is from or how it's said exactly, but I have always liked this sentiment. That everything can have a happy ending- you just haven't reached it yet.

Well.

The downside of it is the sad ending, of course. That everything has a sad ending, too...

In most of my writing, the way I deal with the sad ending is by adding in the "and you haven't reached that yet." and then just never letting my characters die.

For this story in particular, for this character I want to tell you about, it's the other way around: it's a sad ending at first, for quite a while so, and it hasn't reached its happy conclusion yet.

And I need to take care not to hurry the story along.

The girl I'm talking about is Alexa 'Alex' (formerly known as Grace) Williams. Like Grace Williams from H5-0, yep, so not entirely oc, but when have my ocs ever been that? Just characters taken and ooc-ified until unrecognizable. Apart from Akasha, maybe... But that one's a special case.

Anyhow.

Alexa Williams, or rather her original universe, isn't based entirely on 5-0 canon, but rather on the Transformative series by boxparade on ao3 (amazing read, go have a look if you haven't yet!) in which Danny is a trans man and only he, not Rachel, is Grace's biological parent. Because of that fact (and I think this is where it gets oc-ified by me and not by boxparade's fanfiction, but I might be wrong, my memory's shite and I never really know what was my idea and what sb else's), Alexa(still Grace then) looks a little different in this universe: blonde, not as tall, no Rachel-influence basically, let's just say the sperm donor looked more like Danny idk.

Now back to the story.

I started thinking about the Multiverse, and in particular the multiverse of my ever-growing fanfiction headcanon universe, a few years ago when I realised that my headcanons were starting to be too many for one universe- that they started to contradict each other. So- multiverse. And a story that, at the time without faces or names put to it, came to my mind soon after, was that of a girl taken from her universe to a different one, where everything is the same- yet not, where there is a girl that has her name- yet it isn't her at all, where her parents exist but they aren't her parents at all, and she doesn't know what to do- she could easily prove being biologically related to them, make them take her in, they have no idea about the multiverse after all- but does she even want that?

And then, for some reason, reading boxparade's story, I knew this was the girl I was looking for, who would end up on a different universe, with no way to return.

Why is there no way to return, you ask? If she managed to switch over once, why not again? Many of my other Central characters do it all the time. Well. Alexa/Grace didn't just leave her universe- it was destroyed, erased from existence, and she was saved from the ruins. I wrote a quick explanation for the splitterverse, aka the destroyed universes here in a DW fanfic also part of this multiverse, tho idk how understandable it is there as it's just Thirteen rambling xD but anyway. What's important is that Alexa/Grace is all alone: her family and friends wiped from existence, and herself now in a place where everything feels eerily familiar and like deja-vu, yet not like home at all.

I started writing about her origin story here, and I would have liked to continue writing it as a proper story- with her, after taking on the Central name Alexa, meeting the Grace Williams of this universe, becoming friends and eventually telling her the truth- while still hiding from everyone else. About her leaving that place when it becomes too much- joining Central, spending her teenage years as a vigilante with no place to call home (and even Vicky says that that's an unhealthy way to live). She would be the How Not To example for people thrown from other parts of the splitterverse- for she is not the sole survivor. There is Alice (not Kirk because while the Quadrantverse exists, the Star Trek stories are just that-stories) from this fanfic here, and my oc-ish three Joana (Not McCoy)s Jojo, June/Joan and Anna about whom I wrote a one-shot a while ago here and many more.

I would like to write Alexa, while not finding a home, still finding friends at Central, growing into her own person, growing up. And, one day, returning to the universe, planet and place where she met the other Grace Williams right after she left her old universe, so many years ago. And, this time, it feeling like coming home. Home, to her sister, and her sister's family. And that being enough. Because yes, this story does have a happy ending- eventually.

And why didn't I write down all this yet, properly? Because it doesn't have a happy ending for so long, because I'm bad at letting characters suffer for long. I would have written her finding happiness the first time around, and that's not the story that's my headcanon for her.

So.

That's how I'm writing this summary-version on tumblr instead: because I can't bring myself to write anything other than snapshots of her story properly, and because I don't want to forget the complete story in case one day I'll have the energy to write it properly.

Some characteristics of Alexa Williams, as opposed to Grace Williams from her new universe:

- Blonde, either shorter or taller than Grace- shorter would make sense for her being more like Danny, taller would make people in her on universe say that that's what she got from her mother- not knowing that she isn't biologically related to Rachel at all

- Likes to swim and surf (Grace does too, but Alexa is a lot more enthusiastic about it) and used to do a lot of it together with Her Steve.

- On that note: in Alexa's universe, Danny and Steve got together a lot sooner than in Grace's. When Alexa's universe falls, the two have been together and moved in together for at least two years, and Steve has started to be a second father for her... It's just another thing that is Not Right when she comes to Gracie's universe- and then when she comes back years later, Grace can tell her that the universes aren't all that different after all.

Incest, paedophillia, etc. will not occur here and I don’t want to see that on the dash either. It doesn’t matter if I like you the mun or your character otherwise or if we’ve had threads before either: you’re going to be blocked for it. I’m being harsher about the themes I’m comfortable with on the dash because too often I’ve seen uncomfortable stuff from people I otherwise liked, and it’s made me feel in two minds about my reaction to them even though it shouldn’t be that way. I know people like to spread the whole ‘don’t judge people for fiction’ message but my dash is my dash and I shouldn’t have to put up with stuff on it that I don’t wanna see.

My portrayal of Lyra

I want to put it out there that I am mostly book-based. I have watched the film and the tv series, and particularly enjoyed the show, to the point it was what got me to read the books in the first place, but both of those things are merely adaptations of the story. I want my Lyra to be my own adaptation of her, so generally my source material will be the book itself.

That said, I am not opposed to show-based threads and I don’t think there’s anything that the show has done with Lyra that I will point blank refuse to acknowledge for my take on her. If that changes at any point, then I will let you guys know!

I have not yet read any of the other books in the universe besides the main trilogy. I do plan to change this however and will update you guys as and when I read the others. And if there’s anything that I want to diverge from in my own canon, I’ll mention that as and when too!

My main faceclaim for Lyra is D.akota F.anning, with E.mily B.lunt being her faceclaim as a 30+ year old. D.afne K.een who plays Lyra in the show is my alternate face claim, but that’s mostly for gifsets. I do have icons of her available to me, but it probably won’t be very often that I use them unless I feel she fits more.

Shipping...honestly probably will not happen besides with a Will, and if not with a Will, then probably not before Lyra is an adult. She essentially messed up her relationship with herself in The Amber Spyglass, which means a romantic relationship...probably isn’t ideal for her until she fixes that. In my canon for older Lyra, she does start to fix this but she’s almost 25 when the repairing begins, so she probably isn’t really going to be after a romance again before that point.

I do plan to make alternate verses for Lyra in other fandoms and such, to make interactions that little bit easier for muns of non-H.DM characters! That said, if I have a verse for the fandom your character is from but you would still prefer to interact within the H.DM universe, feel free to let me know <3

More thoughts on Steve in Endgame

This is long, and I’m so sorry, I tried to edit it but nothing would have made sense. I hope everyone reads it. I know this is a hot issue and emotions are running hot, but I do think we can have an honest discourse into the characterization of Steve Rogers. Even if we all disagree.

So I know that we are all having disagreements and arguments over Steve’s ending in Endgame and I’ve read both sides. I’m still fully in the camp that it was OOC of Steve’s character and was not the right ending at all, but I read something earlier that made me clarify my position in my own head. Added to the fact that the emotions are slowly fading, I’ve realized something about Steve and his ending and I hope that you will indulge me.

First, I know all the arguments. I’ve made the exact same ones. I’ve met a couple of wonderful people who I’ve been having some awesome conversations about it (shout out to @katefkndoes and @datoldnolasoul for talking and putting up with me as we’ve commiserated together. I can’t thank you two enough for our conversations). And there are a lot of holes in the ending (And I have another one coming on his relationships).

I want to strip away Steve’s relationships and focus on the character himself. What I read today was thoughts on war veterans, PTSD, and how Steve’s ending was a chance for him to heal. A chance to go home after war. A good argument, but I would like to respectfully counter it.

Everyone knows the phrase ‘you can’t go home’. I think this applies to Steve. One thing I’ve always heard is that traumatic experiences changes you. You are never the same person you were before, correct? But that also applies in normal, everyday life as well. We are all changed every day but the experiences we live through. Who we were last year, five years ago, ten years ago, is not the same person we are today, correct? So why aren’t we considering that aspect of Steve’s personality?

He came out of the ice and he sought out whoever was left, Peggy, because it was all he knew at the time, the man out of time. but she was older, had a life, children, was at the end of her life. She was no longer the Peggy he knew. Her experiences forming SHIELD and the sexism she fought changed her. Now, I’m not going to argue that when he came out the ice, he didn’t want to go home. He did. But time marches on and at the end of Endgame, he had been in the modern world for about 12 years. That’s a significant amount of time. Steve lived a lot of life in that time. All of us on both sides agree. Steve Rogers is tired.

But Steve Rogers in Endgame is not the Steve Rogers at the end of The First Avenger. He grieved, he struggled, he suffers through PTSD and depression, he longs for what he knew, yes. But this is also the Steve who created a list to get acclimated to the present, who watched movies enough to catch a random reference from Nat in TWS, who could work cell phones and Stark tech, who slowly got used to his new present. That’s why I’m against the ‘man out of time’ argument. It discounts the amount of time he spend in the present which for a guy in his 20s is fairly significant. He was young enough that he adapted easily enough.

It’s been argued that Steve is one of the youngest Avengers and that’s true. But again, he lived in the present for 12 years. That’s a long time. Especially in going from your early 20s to your 30s. Your 20s are when you solidify who you are, when you experience the most growth and Steve lived through a lot during those years. He is not the same Steve from the 1940s anymore. He’s just as much a part of the modern day as Nat or Sam. Just like all of us, his experiences shaped him, changed him. While he probably did still long for his time, he no longer belonged in his time either. He wouldn’t have fit in to it anymore. I know I’m not the same person I was in my 20s and I don’t want the same things. Would you?

The best example I can give you is Frodo from Lord of the Rings. He sets out to save the Shire, his home, to do the right thing because he was the only one that could bear it. Just like Steve. Yet, when it was over, the trauma of his journey, the journey itself, seeing things nobody else in the Shire had seen before, he no longer belonged in the Shire. It was no longer home. That’s not to say he no longer wanted to live there and live out his life there, but the fact is he couldn’t. “We saved the Shire, but not for me.” He tells Sam this and it’s true. While everything was still the same as Frodo knew it, he was no longer looking at it through the same eyes. It wasn’t home anymore.

I think this is the same thing with Steve. I don’t think he would have been happy or comfortable in the 1940s anymore. He wasn’t the same young, idealistic Steve that had lived there. Besides the obvious technology and what not, you have to look at Steve as himself. This is a man who has seen more and done more than anyone else would. How could someone who had lived through so much in the present day go back and look at the 1940s the same way. He had grown, he saw the world differently. He had lived in the present day for over a decade. It would be like moving away to a new city for a decade, then moving to your childhood home again. You can move to the exact same home, do the exact same thing, but it wouldn’t be the same. The feelings wouldn’t have been the same as when you were younger. Why? Because home didn’t change. You did. Steve did.

Now, before anybody gets angry, I know you could make the same argument for the other way. And it’s a valid argument. The only counter I can make is that Frodo has to leave what he knew to a new place to create a new home, he moves forward knowing he can’t live in the past anymore. I think that’s the reason a lot of us didn’t like Steve’s ending. He fled to the past. It was regressive of the natural growth a person goes through in the simple passage of time, of learning, of growing. You can’t go home again.

And I admit that his actually staying with Peggy hurts me. Not because of any shipping issues, but because for 12 years, Steve has established friendships and relationships with Sam, Wanda, Clint, and yes, Bucky. The new Bucky. The one that was living on his own, becoming a brand new person based off his own experiences and had established his own relationships (the one with Sam could have been shown more just to prepare us for the show). No, he didn’t need Steve to hover like a mother hen and yes, he loved Steve enough to let him go, knowing it would supposedly make him happy. But Steve was still a constant, reassuring presence, someone who knew what it was like to grow, move on, and adapt. I do believe they were building a new, different friendship based on their experiences with new people in their lives instead of just being the two of them. Steve leaving was personal for me, because he essentially abandoned all of these people and as someone who always has had every friend she has ever made abandon her, that was hard to take.

I also realize that it was only seconds to Sam and the others but imagine the implications. Even if the serum slows the aging process (like I think it does because how else would a man in his 30s in 194-whatever expect to live as long as Peggy in the new timeline dies (I’m assuming around the same time as in the prime timeline) in order to return to the main timeline), now their friend as lived an entire lifetime without them and again would no longer be the same person he was when he left. Time and experiences change you.

No one is arguing against Sam getting the shield. No one truly believed that Stucky would ever be made MCU canon. There are other things that should have been (Sharon, for instance. Whether you liked her or not, she was what was intended, even being written into IW before being cut for time). The truth of the matter is even if you think Steve deserved to go back in time, it just wouldn’t have worked because Steve himself was a completely different character based on his natural experiences alone. 

Most importantly and I want people to remember this, no one is saying that Steve didn’t deserve to retire and find some happiness. Everyone I’ve talked to and read agrees with that. He certainly did, but having him return to a time that was literally akin to a sepia tinged memory, was throwing away his experiences and his growth, who he become through the natural progression of time and experience.

To me, having Steve go back for that dance and then reappearing as young Steve, handing the shield to Sam and saying “Peace out! I’m headed to the Grand Canyon!” would have solved a lot of issues people are having with the ending, including my own. He got his dance and was still able to retire.

I do want to say, I can see the way they left it open to bring him back and de-age him if they need it (a la pushing time through Scott in EG) or even just going to the new and separate timeline he created (seriously fuck the writers and their ‘rejection’. they’re idiots) and retrieving him. The next Spider-Man opens up multiverses as well, so there’s endless possibilities. (As long as they don’t cheaply kill him of old age in the series, I’m good.)

The ending is controversial and will always be, especially the more the idiot directors and writers talk. We are all not likely to agree. I know I’ve lost a few followers over my ranting, but I’ve also gained some cool ones as well. I personally cannot accept it. I know others loved it (love ya @gifsbysimplysonia!). They are all valid opinions. I think the one thing we can all agree on is that we love Steve and want the best for him. Anyway, I hope that y’all read my rambling and it helps you understand a different position even if you don’t agree with it.

Yes. 

How are they coping after everything that happened? If they got dusted, how are the adjusting to being back?

If she’s honest, which she wouldn’t be, a selfish part of Raven felt relieved upon the snap. Now that she’s back, it’s the same old- nightmares and steeling herself for whatever chaos is set to happen next. If anything, she appreciates the way some of her teammates have matured in the years she was missing, though the loss of their more innocent aspects is worth mourning. 

How do they feel about the new multiverses? Are they excited to work with new people they may have never met before? Or hesitant?

Raven has always been aware of the multiverse, and believes their new involvement is a mixed bag. On one hand, new people with different experience means they have a better chance, but on the other, it also means the end is getting closer. Additionally, Raven doesn’t trust easily, so this many new people all at once is going to be a Trial.

1. You’ll never see Inz being called by her full name and she hates being called it except by a figure who has a lot more authority than her. And that means a lot. Like…a strictly formal person.

2. Most of the time it’d be the fact that she walks alone a lot. For a young person, it’s probably weird to walk around herself at the times that she does. Of course, the other reason would be that she’s the daughter of Loki and very much associated with superheroes and such

3. When alone, she’s a lot more…quiet in a way. She’s like that in front of people, depending who they are of course. If it’s someone that sort of stresses her out or makes her nervous, she’s silent in an anxious way, though if she’s by herself it’s most likely listening to music and very peaceful.

4. It hasn’t happened yet (thankfully) since she’s so busy travelling the multiverse and all, there’s no point since she never really settles and leaves her home universe quite a lot to explore. But again, depending who’s around the couple, she’d either be really chill or quite flustered.

5. She does not, as a Goddess of Mischief/Chaos, she lies a lot. Sort of part of the gig, she does something bad and covers it up like an expert.

6. …what a strange question.

7. Her hair is actually very silky, it’s straight and midnight black. Like..the darkest black, and very straight. So it’s a nice texture, very smooth.

8. The most she wears is a necklace, not a fancy shiny one, but it looks more like a dark string with a mini harmless dagger attached. Well, harmless to her at least. She also has a bracelet but that’s more of a technology thing. There is also her helmet and all that fancy asgardian stuff but that’s not a norm.

9. I think she might? Not entirely sure about that, I’ll try find it out. If not, then feel free for suggesting any to help me out :)

10. A weird quality. She’s literally a half Asgardian half Jotun, alien, powerful teenager who’s also a princess of Asgard and Valkyrie in training. No, that’s not weird at all.

11. Dark green of course :)

12. In a platonic or familial way, a lot of hugging. She gets attached to people she gets closer to, most likely due to having so much loss and being unsure of how to deal with it since it all happened at such a young age.

13. Once again, it depends. If she’s happy or excited or generally close to the person, then yes, she gives full eye contact or attention. She does the majority of the time actually, giving full attention. Unless she gets bored or distracted, then she slowly starts to lose eye contact and then focus completely.

14. She’s gotten her parents personalities for sure. The sarcasm, cockiness, mischievousness, sometimes genuineness, all of it. She’s also gotten some of Thor’s personality, quite optimistic at times unless something happens and all goes to hell.

15. Her greatest strength would probably be her will to help out people who need it, or who she’s closest to. Which drives her strong protective will and nearly kills her sometimes, which basically is a flaw. So I’d say yes.

16. Hm. Good question. Well, if you’ve read the whole Character information bit, you’ll know Inz started travelling independently at a young age. She’s learnt to live and cope within many different societies and surroundings. Some where she’s known as good, some where she’s a thief and all. Many where she just lives calmly until all goes to hell. She never really went to school. It was hard to if she was moving around a lot, so it was a sort of learn as you go thing. She only learnt things she absolutely needed and would find useful from those around her. The fact they were mostly geniuses was just perfect for her actually. People…her opinions changed from time to time. Sometimes she saw them as the monsters of society. Not all, but some and the crowd of them only seemed to grow. She quickly discovered that they became overcome by hate quickly, so it would be hard to lie and say she had a lot of faith in humanity in a way. But she didn’t leave the compound boundaries a lot anyway for safety reasons, so she wasn’t one to judge all. And herself? Oh, that changed from time to time too, and for good reason.

Ahhhh this took ages but it was fun I have to admit. Exploring my oc more through the thought I put on this. My English teacher would sob because I don’t put nearly as much effort into his work as I do into these 💀 //
